VISI.NEWS | BANDUNG – Harvard University has stunned financial markets with a massive US$116.6 million investment in BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF during the second quarter of 2025.

This move makes the Bitcoin ETF Harvard’s fifth-largest holding, surpassing its investment in Alphabet (Google’s parent company).

The decision is seen as a strong signal that one of the world’s most prestigious educational institutions is placing significant trust in cryptocurrency particularly Bitcoin.

With BlackRock, a global asset management giant, overseeing the ETF, technical and regulatory risks are perceived to be more manageable compared to direct crypto investments.

However, some analysts caution that Bitcoin’s price remains highly volatile, especially amid global economic uncertainty and shifting interest rate policies.

Still, Harvard move could serve as a catalyst, encouraging more major institutions to enter the crypto space in the near future.

If this trend continues, Bitcoin could experience a surge in demand but for unprepared investors, it might also turn into a high-risk trap.
