VISI.NEWS | BANDUNG – While Ethereum-based NFT collections appear to be thriving on paper, the latest market data reveals a concerning trend beneath the surface transaction volume and participant interest are rapidly shrinking.

According to BlockchainReporter, Ethereum-based NFTs still lead the pack, with Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) topping the sales chart at $3.11 million during the most recent reporting period. That number reflects a staggering 308.09% increase in sales value compared to previous figures.

But the bullish figure comes with an unexpected twist: the surge occurred despite a 37.50% drop in the number of transactions.

This means fewer people are engaging with these assets, and yet the average price per sale is rising dramatically a pattern that could signal increased market manipulation or speculative inflation rather than genuine growth.

Even more troubling, BAYC only recorded 10 buyers and 10 sellers-an unusually small pool for a collection of such notoriety.

Compared to previous stats, this marks a 23.08% decrease in buyers and a 16.67% drop in sellers, raising alarms among analysts about the long-term sustainability of the current NFT market momentum.

“This looks more like a whale-driven pump than organic market strength,” said a blockchain analyst based in Singapore. “When sales spike but users vanish, we should be skeptical.”

Despite flashy headlines and jaw-dropping numbers, Ethereum’s dominance in NFT sales may be masking a deeper issue of market fatigue, especially as more casual investors and creators grow disillusioned with the fading promise of digital collectibles.

As critics question the health of the NFT economy and regulatory scrutiny increases, the question remains: Is this a true comeback for Ethereum NFTs, or just a short-lived illusion propped up by a shrinking elite?
